Corrections Policy

We distinguish a factual error from unclear wording, a formatting mistake, a disagreement in judgment, or information that became outdated naturally. A correction depends on verifiable evidence, not whether the request came from a reader, provider, advertiser, or subject of an article.

How to submit a correction

Use the Contact page and include the page URL, exact passage, reason it may be wrong, relevant country or date, and supporting evidence such as a regulator publication, formal disclosure, contract, or court record. Do not send sensitive personal data that is unrelated to verification.

Review process

  1. Identify the exact claim and the source on which it relied.
  2. Check current controlling material under the source hierarchy in our Editorial Policy.
  3. Classify the issue as a formatting fix, clarification, routine update, material correction, or possible withdrawal.
  4. Revise the page and its update date. If the error affected a conclusion, amount, eligibility rule, risk, or practical next step, add a visible correction note.
  5. Add a dated entry to the correction record below when a material correction warrants a public record.

Labels and withdrawal

Spelling, punctuation, and formatting fixes that do not change meaning generally are not announced individually. Errors that could change a reader’s understanding or decision receive a visible note. We may withdraw an article when its central evidence cannot be verified, its overall conclusion cannot be repaired through a limited edit, or continued publication would be materially misleading. Where appropriate, the original URL remains available with an explanation so older links retain context.

Material correction record

No material correction requires a public entry as of this page’s last update. Future entries will identify the correction date, affected page, original problem, and revision summary; they do not replace the update date shown on the article itself.
